Quick answer: the easiest way to get laundry done on a New York trip is to have it picked up from your hotel. Your laundry options on a New York trip
Most visitors don’t think about laundry until day three, when the suitcase is half dirty and the trip is only half over. Here is what each option actually looks like in Manhattan.
Hotel laundry service: convenient, but priced per item, often $5–12 a shirt. A mid-trip load of 10–15 pounds can run past $100, and it usually has to be handed in by a morning cutoff.
A self-service laundromat: the cheapest in dollars at roughly $3.50–5 a wash and $3–4 a dry, but you have to find one, carry the bag there and back, and spend 90 minutes to two hours of your trip waiting on machines.
Drop-off wash and fold at a laundromat: usually $1.50–2.50 a pound, but it still means two trips across the neighborhood on their schedule, not yours.

How hotel laundry pickup works
Download the Green Clean Laundromat app (App Store or Google Play).
Enter your hotel’s street address as the pickup address, and put the hotel name, your room number and your name in the delivery notes.
Pick a one-hour window between 7am and 7pm, any day of the week.
Leave the bag with the front desk or bell desk before your window. Any bag works; the hotel laundry bag is fine.
You get a notification when it’s picked up and another when it’s on its way back to the desk.

Timing it around your trip
Checking out soon? Book the 7–8am pickup the day before you leave. Your laundry is back at the desk between 6 and 7pm that evening, folded and ready to pack.
On a longer stay? Send a bag every few days so you can pack half the clothes. Pickups run seven days a week, weekends included.
Dry-clean-only pieces: a suit or silk dress goes to our partner cleaner and takes 24–48 hours longer than wash and fold, so send those early in the trip.
What it costs
You pay $1.90 a pound for wash and fold, weighed dry. There is no pickup fee and no delivery fee, and orders are billed at a 10 lb minimum ($19). Your first order is 20% off.

Packing tips so you need less laundry
Pack for four or five days, not the whole trip, and plan one pickup in the middle.
Bring a spare tote or packable bag to use as your laundry bag.
Put anything you want air-dried in its own small bag and note it in the app. Hang-dry is free.
Everything is washed cold unless you ask otherwise, which is gentle on travel clothes and activewear.
