Why laundry hits Manhattan parents harder
In most of the country, a new baby means buying a bigger washer. Burp cloths, bibs, crib sheets, swim towels and the second outfit of the day add up faster than anyone expects. A household with an infant and a toddler can easily clear 30 pounds in a week, which is three or four full machine loads and at least two separate trips.
What pickup changes for parents
For a single adult the laundromat is an annoyance. For a parent it competes with time that is already spoken for: school pickup, dinner, bedtime, and the ninety minutes after bedtime that are the only quiet part of the day.

Kids' laundry: the settings that matter
A few things worth setting up once in the app before your first pickup:
Fragrance-free detergent. Choose Free & Clear as your default detergent preference. It applies to the whole order, which is the right call for infants and anyone with sensitive skin. It costs nothing extra.
Cold water. Everything is washed cold unless you ask otherwise. Cold is gentler on prints and elastic, and it doesn't set protein stains (milk, food, the usual).
Stains. Note heavily stained items in the order notes. We pre-treat what we can, but the sooner a stain is washed the better the odds, so don't let the bag sit for a week.
Hang-dry items. Anything that shouldn't see a dryer goes in its own small bag with a note. We air-dry it at no extra charge.
Keep kids' clothes separate. Use two bags and say so in the notes, and they come back folded separately. Parents of school-age kids tell us this alone saves them an evening of sorting.
Bedding, towels and the bulky stuff
Families burn through bedding: sick days, nighttime accidents, the sleepover that got out of hand. Crib sheets, toddler sets and twin sheets are ordinary wash-and-fold items and go in the same bag at the same $1.90 a pound. Towels too.
Comforters and duvets are the exception. They are priced per item (from $25, depending on size) rather than by weight, because they need a large machine and a long dry. Blankets are still by the pound. Everything is listed on the pricing page, and the price shows in the app before you confirm.
The schedule that actually sticks
Almost every family we serve settles into the same rhythm within a month: one fixed weekly pickup, booked as a recurring order in the app so nobody has to remember it.
The most popular version is a Monday 7–8am pickup. The bag goes out before the school run, it comes back the same evening between 6 and 7pm, and the week starts with drawers full. Families with bigger volume add a second pickup on Thursday. Either way the weekend is yours.
